HELPING FAMILIES RAVAGED BY FIRE
Samaritan’s Purse provided shelter kits to 70 Cambodian families after a fuel-fed inferno left them homeless.
What was the need?
Imagine your home and everything you owned suddenly destroyed by fire.
Burnt, charred, gone…
That’s what many families in Cambodia experienced on January 29, 2007 when an inferno spread through the village of Kutasot, taking out 70 homes. Officials say it was started by a propane tank. Whatever the cause, the devastation has been immense – and it’s happened to people who had very little in the first place.
How did we help?
Samaritan’s Purse Australia, working alongside the local Church, were able to provide 70 Shelter Kits to families left homeless by this fire. Now these villagers have been provided with new shelters, plus we’ve helped equip them with everyday essentials like rice, noodles, canned fish, blankets, mosquito nets, cooking utensils and more – to show the compassion of Christ to men, women and children rebuilding their lives.
Sudden tragedies like the Kutasot fire can hit suddenly and with no notice. We have people “on the ground” ready to respond. Your contribution to our “Emergency Relief” projects will ensure we can respond immediately. |
